The comfort of time

This is Eligh. If you were to explain this little dude's personality in one word, it would be "stoked"

A year and a half ago she and I were drinking margaritas and pontificating on when we would feel like adults. And then this little nugget came along. Funny how that works.

The holidays came and went with its regular bouts of laughter and cheers and tears (AND COLD!)

But I got to spend time with some top notch Brits (including my brother the ex-pat)!

There was a lot of love (and booze) in the room that night

The British Invasion carried over into LA. Darius was on a steady diet of hot dogs

If only I had $1000 I would have purchased this gem of a painting (that is how much it cost, really)

Oh and then this

I had a blast but this getting older stuff is utter bullshit.

Then to San Diego to visit the Parkes' before they embark on their epic, 3 month, Central American adventure. They both quit the jobs they hated, saved up some money and are going to travel around, volunteer and learn Spanish. Living the dream much?

We went bowling and I was obsessed with the black lights and lasers

And of course, LJ too. I mean really, have you ever seen such a funny little person?

This is a video we sent Darius after he left to tell him how much we missed him.

And it just keeps getting better.

We Come Home

So yeah. Shit happens. Thats why I haven't been around to say hello. 2010 is gone. Another year, another Autumnal string of holidays.

First, Halloween. I did manage to dress up this year, but only to take LJ to the pumpkin patch (where I talked toddler with Michelle Monaghan). Apparently kids ARE chick magnets.....

My more creative co-workers made dia de las muertos sugar skulls

Oh and speaking of LJ, here are a few gems.

Here she is with her cell phone and her doll, Olga. The facial expressions these days are killing me.

Right?

And then magically it was Thanksgiving. Jen Jenkins was the hostess and the afternoon divine. There were, I think, 10 of us at dinner and Jen's friend Trish organized a VERY efficient method for distributing leftovers

Also, there was a Yenie sighting in LA!

And these two!

And just as a rule, don't ever give Cotterman your camera. He will blind you, BLIND YOU with multiple flash photos.

Lucas!

And then there was our little company holiday party. WITH KARAOKE!

Then it was home to Colorado with the family for Christmas. There were no photos, but there was lots of fun. Hope everything was egg nog and mistletoe for you as well. And on into '11.

Stay Gold

Pffffftttt. Its strange how much having a real job takes out of you.

Um first of all, LJ started pre-school. Her papi and mom and dad and I all went with her on her first day (Guess who cried? Not the toddler....)

She was a little shy when I was trying to take her first day of school photo
shy

We kept trying to take a normal looking family photo but between my shitty camera, a two year old that moves pretty fast and the fact that its sort of hard for any adult to look awesome at 7:30am, this is the best we could come up with

Blurry

At least LJ looks cute

Just got back from Treasure Island Festival in San Francisco. I should warn you that I pretty much took photos of the exact same people as last year, but we had fun.

Belinda (gorgeous much?)

Super B

And Rob!

Rob

He told me that since he works from home now he is required to grow a beard.

Here comes trouble
Justin

Actually, I didn't see much of Justin this time around. Belinda and I both commented on the fact that he now looks like a man and no longer the 24 year old smart ass I know and love.

Hawthorne just got back from Tahiti

Hawthorne

Not sure why he looks scared shitless in that photo...

Every year the nice organizers of the festival put together a tent for us old folks to hang out in. Generally it reminds me of what a party at the Playboy mansion might look like

It was sort of FREEZING on the fricking island, but I did catch some good sets. This is Miike Snow. I LOVE that record. SO good.

They had a fog machine that kept interfering with documentation

Miike Snow

Yeah, my photos are so bad I feel like I should start some sort of creative movement. I think I will call it Blurry/ Shitty/ Arty. I mean, ACTUAL good photography has been so done. I might as well play to my strengths right?

Here are some more Blurry/ Shitty/ Arty of Belle and Sebastian

I feel like the artist nailed everyone but Rose. Heh.....

Fast times

Whew! Its crazy around here! I got a new job at Epitaph and ANTI Records (woot!) and am finally starting to feel semi grown up again. However, going from having tons of free time to a serious job is a little rough. As you can see, I really WILL complain about anything. Mostly its been going a little like this:

workie

Which leads to me often looking like this:

stress

I am super excited actually and just waiting to get the hang of everything. So tis good.

In other news, Ben Ben Goeke rolled into town. I was supposed to go camping with him in Yosemite, but I ended up getting aforementioned job. He was one of my favorite roommates in San Francisco. He makes an amazing guacamole and also had an unparalleled collection of records released in the 70's (including a VERY creepy spoken word album of Shel Silverstein reciting his poems). We sort of pinky swore on this trip that we would always stay friends.

Ben Ben 2

He is super adorable and witty. Two of my favorite attributes.

Goeke

We went to this awesome bar downtown called Seven Grand. It looked like a Scottish manor complete with Tartan patterns and many, many deer busts.

7 Grand

TJ, Ben's cutie cousin.

TJ

And Ben's friend Sharlene who is HILARIOUS. She told me she went through a phase where she only dated dudes who looked (and acted) like Jesus.

Sharlene

She also takes awesome photos. Checks her.

Right before we left the bar, this dude came up to me and told me that I was so beautiful he needed to take a photo of me. With my own camera. Weirdness! So I snapped his instead. He was a creep for sure in case you ever encounter him.

Creeper

Also been hangin' with LJ as per usual. She is super brill and at two and a half can draw SUNS!

she can draw suns

We took her to Canter's the other day and she did the most adorable thing. An older gentleman was hosting and when he asked us to follow him to our table LJ grabbed his hand and let him lead her there. Pretty precious shit. Its a good place. Gun's and Roses used to hang out there.

Canter's

Mmmmm
Hot Dog!>

I bought her a panda mask. She was scared of it at first but then she got into it.

I see you!

Ta da!

Wild

So yeah. I guess that about sums up what going on with me. How are YOU?
