Brings you back

Its been rainy like crazy around here with no end in sight! People freak out when it rains here. They think its akin to 16 inches of snow. Wusses. Due to the strong winds, I figured out that there is an inch gap in the insulation of my living room window. No wonder its always butt cold in my apartment! I promptly stuffed plastic bags in the opening, which did nothing. I need a handy man!

SO, what did you do on Saturday night? Anything fun? Me? Oh just hung out with this dude.

I went to see a live performance of Pee Wee's Playhouse with the Parkes'. It was amazing and featured almost all of the characters from the original show (except Penny!). AND because we got screwed by Ticketmaster when they moved the show to a bigger venue, we got to attend a Q & A with Mr. Reubens afterward. I couldn't really get a decent photo, but you get the idea.

Check out that dude's earring in front of us.

Pee Wee was extremely grateful to the crowd and was very nice about answering everyone's questions (even all of the stupid ones). Of course we thought of a ton of good ones to ask after we left.

Onward to IHOP (BAD idea. We all woke up with stomach aches). Also, the light there is brutal. Joysie

And the Brothers Parkes

The next day we hit up the Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits.

Here the gang is discovering what it would be like to be trapped in tar. Like you couldn't imagine what that would feel like.

Mastodon, Jen D. and Lou Perka!!

P1170046

Parkes asked Lou Perka how long it had been since he touched the femur of a Harlan's Ground Sloth. His reply was "eh, about two weeks."

This is just a sampling of the many Dire Wolf skulls that have been found in the pits.

Wolves are dumb.

P1170047

They have a lab in the middle of the museum where you can watch scientists at work. The dude on the right looked a bit like Comic Book Guy. "Worst. Fossil. Ever."

Eric was mesmerized

Here Lou Perka demonstrates "The Lion Punch". One of his many entrepreneurial ideas wherein you charge someone a dollar for a chance to punch a lion in the face. It should be noted that Joy was co-inventor of this concept.

One of the excavation sites.

They are still uncovering fossils dating back 40,000 years, but have found the remains of only one human. Its interesting that such an archeological hot bed is located literally in the middle of the city of Los Angeles. I highly recommend it.

Tomorrow is my birthday. I secretly think that no one is going to come to my celebration. I'll keep you posted.
